The 5 Fruit & Veg a Day Trick






We all know that we're meant to consume at least 5 Fruit and Veg a day. Now although this sounds simple enough, often there are days where this is just impossible, especially if you have a busy schedule. We can afford to miss a day here and there but if you're constantly not getting your 5-a day this can have a serious effect on our health.




  Why do we need to eat our 5-a day?

Firstly, Fruit and Veg help contribute to a balanced diet. They can also help reduce the risk of types of cancer, stroke and heart disease. Both Fruit and Veg are a good sense of fibre which can help maintain a healthy gut. Having a high fibre diet can reduce the risk of bowel cancer. Fruit and Veg are also a good source of vitamins.

So what's the trick to getting your 5-a day?

It's simple. Smoothies. Not the sort you get from the shops, too much fruit in a smoothie is bad for your teeth. The best thing to do is to find at least 5 Fruit and Veg, make sure your selection is mostly vegetables. Pick the produce which you like and suits your diet and lifestyle.

An important thing to be aware of is that some of the fruits and vegetables you choose may have flavours that clash, so it's always best to have something with a strong taste - some fresh mint works well.
